Anime Expo/SPJA is aware of recent concerns pertaining to an Artist Alley participant and an AX volunteer. Both have apologized for the social media storm. The Artist will not be part of Artist Alley at Anime Expo 2017. The volunteer was counseled about SPJA’s social media policies.
Our Youth Protection Policy states: “The Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation (SPJA) recognizes the importance of protecting youth participants in SPJA events and activities, including online activities. SPJA has adopted a zero tolerance policy with regard to actions or behaviors that threaten the safety of young people, including violence, bullying, sexual harassment, sexual assault, and other inappropriate or potentially harmful actions or behaviors. SPJA views the safety and security of all participants—especially young people— as a top priority.”
Our social media policy prohibits bullying in any form.
Please note that only official AX channels (website, Twitter, Facebook) are a source for accurate information about anything relating to Anime Expo.
