Industry Registration

Anime Expo welcomes creators and trade professionals across anime and Japanese pop culture industries and is happy to provide an industry badge for approved individuals.

If you wish to attend as an Industry professional, you must apply online and complete the full application by the due date. Applications submitted after the due date may not be reviewed. Please be sure to fill out the application as much as possible to ensure a smooth review process and improve the likelihood of getting approved for an Industry badge.

We encourage anyone interested in applying to apply early as the number of Industry badges is limited. Applications are reviewed individually in the order that they are received. Decisions are final and at SPJA’s sole discretion.

Deadline to Register: June 8, 2022

Please be aware that there is no onsite registration for industry badges.

We are unable to provide industry badges to non-relevant industries, students, cosplayers, or support staff such as administrative staff, facilities, IT, operations, QA, HR, or convention volunteer support staff.

Industry Badge

The Industry Badge is for individuals who are part of the creative process of Japanese pop culture, content, or related industries including production design, writing and editing, and Japanese pop culture business professionals such as marketing, sales, business development, producers, and executives.

  • Provides all the same access as a 4-day attendee badge.
  • Includes access to the Industry Lounge and priority entrances throughout the event.

*Prices do not include ShowClix/shipping & handling fee. Industry badges are limited. Verification and approval are ultimately at the discretion of SPJA.

All badge mailing policies and deadlines will apply to Industry badge holders.

Application Process: 

  1. Submit an application –  please be as thorough as possible in your responses to increase chances of approval. 
  2. Submitted applications will be reviewed by the AX team and selected for approval. 
  3. Each industry applicant will receive a notice letting them know if they have been approved, if additional information is needed, or if they have not been selected. If you have not heard back from us by the end of May, please email us at industry@anime-expo.org
  4. Upon approval, you will be provided with unique URL link granting access to purchase your Industry badge via ShowClixNOTE: If someone purchases the badge on behalf of an approved professional (applicant), please note that the buyer:
    1. must assign the badge for transfer during checkout by providing the applicant’s email address AND, 
    2. if shipping within the U.S. or Canada, enter the applicant’s name and shipping address on the Billing Page.  

    If SPJA discovers the badge has not been assigned to an approved applicant during checkout, then the buyer will have one week to transfer the badge to the approved applicant via their ShowClix account before the badge is canceled.  

  5. All badges will be shipped to mailing addresses in the U.S. and Canada.  All badge orders with International addresses will automatically be held for Will Call pickup on-site at the Registration Booth.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

The Industry Badge is for:

  • People who attend Anime Expo for business reasons such as executives, marketing, sales, business development, managers, executive producers, or other professionals can be eligible for an industry professional badge. Job titles might include agents, publicists, buyers, executives, marketing, sales, business development, producers, or legal representatives. Anime and pop culture convention management may also be eligible for an Industry badge. 
  •  People who are involved in the design, writing, editing, or production of anime, manga, video games, or toys can be eligible for the industry creative badge. Job titles might include voice actor, animator, or editor. The industry creative badge is also extended to those responsible for creating non-editorial content related to, inspired by, or promoting anime or Japanese pop culture such as YouTubers, performers, and other digital influencers. 

Eligibility requirements include:

  • Producers must have credits listed within the last 3 years.
  • Conventions must have a parent company or nonprofit in order to be eligible. Conventions run by a sole individual or a school club are not eligible.
  • Voice actors must have at least three listed credits within the past year (IMDB, ANN)
  • Translators must have worked on published work within the last 3 years.
  • Artists/Creatives must have worked on a published project and have credits listed somewhere other than a personal portfolio website/LinkedIn.
  • Webcomic artists may be eligible if their work has been published by a third party.
  • Indie companies must have content currently available to purchase or download.
  • Mobile game companies are eligible if their app is currently available in Google Play or App Store.
