Workshops

Workshops are hands-on, interactive sessions that provide an opportunity to learn new skills, such as sewing, origami, dancing, and drawing.

 

Anime Expo invites both industry professionals and amateur enthusiasts to share their knowledge of Japanese culture and actives. From cosplay to dance, drawing to writing, passionate instructors are eager to share their knowledge with fellow fans and attendees.

Examples of Past Workshops

Copic Marker Essentials

From choosing paper to inking and coloring, this class gives a basic overview of how to use Copic products for creating your own manga. Learn how to pick blending colors, how to apply color like the pros, and see an airbrush demo. All supplies provided.

Gundam Model Building

This presentation will cover beginner to advance building techniques for Gundam models performed in a humorous comedy show style. Basic building techniques, such as cutting the parts and sanding, to advanced techniques, such as kit bashing parts together to create unique parts, will be discussed during the panel with dioramas to demonstrate.

Leathercraft: Tooling & Armour Making

This panel serves as a primer and introduction into leather tooling and armour making. The panel will go over the principles of leatherwork and tooling from material selection, tool use, and more!

Polymer Clay 101

Learn how to work with polymer clay by sculpting along with Killer Tentacle Octopus. Ever wanted to work with polymer clay but didn't know where to start? This workshop will go through the basics of how to work with this versatile product. At the end you'll have your own piece to take home. Come join in this hands on workshop! Clay packets available for the first 50 attendees only.

Prop Making for Beginners

A prop making panel for beginners, hosted by someone who has been making props for 6 years. This panel goes over safety, tools, materials and strategies. Materials gone over in the panel range from basic paper mache to thermoplastics, even resin casting. Come join me as I nerd out over my passion!
