AX Volunteers are more involved in the planning stages before Anime Expo, as well as the daily operations during Anime Expo. While being an AX Volunteer requires more of a commitment, there are also more perks, including, but not limited to food provisions during the convention. With 60+ departments to choose from that range in size from less than ten people to three hundred strong.

Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old by May 1st of the year you wish you volunteer. All volunteers must be 18 before beginning any volunteer work or training. (i.e. To volunteer for Anime Expo 2030, you must be at least 18 years old by May 1, 2030.)
• Must have a minimum of 40-hour commitment scheduled (may include both pre-con and at-con hours).
• Must be available for all of the Anime Expo show dates. Some departments may begin earlier and require people to arrive on-site earlier.
• Complete department-specific training and requirements.
• Adhere to all SPJA volunteer policies/guidelines.
• Complete the Volunteer Shiftboard Application.
• Complete your Shiftboard profile.
• Upload proper identification photo to Shiftboard Profile.
• Complete Youth Protection Policy (YPP) courses.
• Complete volunteer onboarding forms.
• Complete a background check.
